DS Smith reaches social sustainability target

We are proud to announce that we have today achieved our target of 100% of in-scope DS Smith sites completing the SEDEX Self-Assessment Questionnaire.

To us, truly sustainable value is found when balancing the needs of Our Business, Our Environment and Our People.

This latest milestone reflects our commitment to be a responsible, transparent and sustainable business, focussed not just on environmental sustainability but on social elements as well. — Mark Greenwood, Group Health, Safety and Environment Director

DS Smith has been an AB Member of SEDEX since 2014, and our commitment to respect and support human rights extends to our suppliers, business partners, and the wider communities within our sphere of influence.
Completing the SEDEX Self-Assessment Questionnaires is a great way of assessing our own activities in relation to labour standards and human rights, whilst enabling us to demonstrate our strong performance in this area to our Customers.

“We are continuing to strive towards the rest of our sustainability goals. As a business we are stronger together and all of our people have a key role to play in achieving our goals and objectives” continued Mark Greenwood
In addition to SEDEX, the Our People section of our sustainability activities focuses on:

  • Health & Safety. We seek to improve our performance continuously and strive to ensure that all visitors, colleagues, contractors, agency workers and members of the public are kept safe.
  • Employees. We seek to ensure the wellbeing of our people, invest in safe, comfortable and engaging work environments and provide training and equal opportunities for all. Our commitment to respect and support human rights extends to our own employees, suppliers, business partners, and the wider communities within our sphere of influence.
  • Community. We seek to make a positive contribution to our communities and build a reputation as a good neighbour and employer.
